Chinese manufacturer MG motors is all set to launch its second Electric car MG Air EV in the Indian market. The Three door micro Electric car will be totally different from ongoing Mg EVs like ZS EV. and because of its small form factor Air EV will become India’s smallest Electric car. Although, PMV EaS-E is the smallest micro vehicle but it’s declared a quadricycle, which left no direct competitors for the MG Air EV, At least for Now.
Interior Space And Features
With 2.9 meter length, EV has seating capacity of 4 people. However, you might wonder what kind of space that micro City Electric car has, but it’s not that bad, due to its boxy shape it’s got quite a bit of space in the interior and enough head room for passengers to sit comfortably. it doesn’t get the big center console that extends from the arm rest to the dashboard, instead, it gets a small one with gear selector and windows control on it.
The MG Air EV will be loaded with tons of features like 10.25-inch dual display, Connected car tech, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Voice Command and Dual-tone interior, we might even see a sunroof. We have a proper seat belt for all Four passengers. It gets good storage area too, like the center console has cylindrical shape storage area and sup holder in front both AC vents.
Battery And Powertrain
The Air EV will use LFP cell battery, sourced from TATA Autocomp, whose battery capacity could be around 20-25kWh. MG motors is likely to claim a driving range of 200-300 km in single charge. The EV will be powered by a single motor that generates 58kW (68hp) of Power, which is placed at the front axle, making EV front wheel drive.
Expected Price & Launch Date
With all these features and range, The EV isn’t gonna be cheap as you expect by looking at it’s size. The MG Air EV is Expected to launch at a price tag of around 10 lakh, which will make this EV an Premium City driving car for those who already own a vehicle for long distance travel.
MG Motors hasn’t announced any specific launch date, but it could make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo. Company plans to make it as localized as possible by using over 60 percent locally manufactured parts.
